Your first SmartEdu quick diagnostic: from questions to a study plan
A practical walkthrough of the short assessment, the early-finish option and the report that helps you choose what to practise next.

1. Set aside a focused first session
The standard SmartEdu quick diagnostic contains 16 questions and takes about 20 minutes. You can start without an account. Choose a quiet moment, keep distractions away and answer from your current understanding rather than searching for solutions. The current start screen says the timer begins when you press Start and does not pause, so settle in before starting.
A diagnostic is useful because it shows where to begin. A student starting around 1250 and aiming for 1400+ can use it to decide which weaknesses deserve attention first. That is an illustrative study goal, not a result promised by the assessment.
2. Answer and notice your confidence
Read each question, choose your answer and record confidence where the interface offers that option. Notice the difference between an answer you can explain and a correct guess. Those two situations call for different follow-up practice.
If a question takes much longer than expected, remember what slowed you down: interpreting the wording, choosing a method or checking the calculation. These observations help turn a score estimate into a usable plan.
3. Understand the six-question demonstration
Our short tutorial answers six questions to show the workflow quickly. It then uses Finish early and confirms the warning. That is an abbreviated demonstration, not the full 16-question diagnostic.
You may finish early when exploring the interface, but fewer responses give a more limited picture. For your own starting assessment, complete the standard diagnostic when possible.
4. Open the report and choose your next step
The demonstrated flow asks you to create a free account to open the report and continue learning. Review the estimated range alongside the work you actually completed. It is not an official SAT score and should not replace a full practice exam.
Choose one specific next action: review a recurring mistake, practise a weak concept with the AI tutor, or schedule a full mock exam. Keep the first action small enough to finish, then use later work to check whether the weakness is improving.
5. Turn the report into a three-line action note
Before moving on, write a short note in your own notebook. The public product guide describes a score band, missed concepts, pacing and suggested next practice. Use those as starting points; the three lines below are a suggested personal routine, not extra fields in the SmartEdu report.
For example, if a question was difficult because you could not translate the wording into an equation, make that translation the next skill to practise. A correct guess deserves follow-up too. After working through an explanation, try a related question without looking at the solution and check whether you can explain the method.
- Evidence: name one missed or uncertain concept and note whether the attempt was complete or ended early.
- Obstacle: write what slowed you down or made you guess—wording, concept, method or calculation.
- Next action: choose one related practice task, then return later for a fresh check without hints.
